Hey whats up readers today I’m going to help you troubleshoot a very common problem with Macbook’s. Many 13 inch Macbook’s 2006-2009 Models have battery issues where the Macbook does not detect or charge the battery. You may see an X on your battery indicator or the Magsafe connector always stays green here is a few tips to remedy the problem.

A. Try a SMC Reset on your macbook

1. Power down the Macbook

2. Remove the Magsafe connector (Charger)

3. Remove the Battery If possible (If you have a macbook air or Macbook pro unibody it is highly recommended you take your unit to professionals (Like ourselves =] ) to do the work.

4. Press and hold the power button down for 5 seconds.

5. Connect the Magsafe adapter wait 5 seconds.

6. Now reinsert the battery

7. Power on the unit.

8. Check to see if the problem is fixed Adapter light should now be orange and your battery should be charging

9. If this Did not fix your issue try a PRAM Reset

B. Pram Reset

1. Power up your mac holding the Option Command + P + R Keys before the chime.

2. You should now here another chime wait for your mac to go through atleast 2 cycles of chimes before letting go this will make sure your PRAM has been reset

3. Check to see if your battery is charging? If its not then its the sleep/wake connector, magsafe board, or battery in a very small number of cases it’s been a faulty logicboard.

Diagnostic for these kinds of issues are free at Envigo and questions are welcomed.

Magsafe board replacement at Envigo is $150.00 for Standard Macbooks.

Sleep/wake Battery Connector is $109.00 for Standard Macbooks.

Without modern electronics, mankind would have limited access to Bach’s symphonies, Hitchcock’s films, and Bob Saget’s dog and baby voice-overs. Stock up on entertaining appliances with today’s Groupon: for $25, you get $50 worth of Apple iPhone repairs or accessories at Envigo Repairs.

The certified technicians at Envigo Repairs keep treasured iPhones healthy with timely, expert repairs, and pamper gadgets with practical, fashionable accessories. In the repair shop, expert technicians scrutinize phones, diagnose problems, and revive devices using only original product parts, rejecting the MacGyver method of fastening phones out of paper clips, string, and charisma. Worn-out batteries gracefully retire with iPhone 3G battery replacement services ($49). iPhone-home-button repair gets 3G iPhones back on track ($39.99), and back-casing repair returns dignity to overexposed iPhone 4s ($39.99). Accessory-wise, customers can defend delicate glass with a screen protector, which comes with free repair ($5), or score a new iPhone wall charger, which revives iPhone batteries or provide hours of entertainment for naughty cats ($25). Typically, iPhone repairs take four hours or less, and many can be completed in 30 minutes, and Envigo’s 100-day warranty helps proliferate the phone’s life.

Whats up everyone. So i purchased some USB flash drives from corsair a while back and accidentally pulled them out! while data was transferring over to the Drive. When i tried formatting the drive in Windows i Got an error saying “windows could not format this drive” I went over to the corsair website to see if they had a tool to recover my data and restore the drive To my amazement they had nothing just a stupid RMA form. I thought to my self what a gimmick who would send back a 2gb or 4 gb flash drive without even the hopes of retrieving their data. Extremely disappointed i tossed the drive in a drawer claiming I’d get to it some day. Today a similar incident happened with my Transcend USB Flash drive so i decided to head over to the transcend web site to see if they had a tool for recovering the data and restoring my USB drive. BOOM! to my amazement they did! Worked like a charm restored my files and drive back to working condition. I then immediately thought of the corsair drive i had tossed away in the drawer. Money Shot! it worked as well so i am pleased to post a link to there website and even thou they have ugly looking USB drives they have the customer support i look for in a product.
Here is a link to their Software TOOL i used to restore my drives.

Hey everyone last week we setup a customer with a dual boot configuration on her MacBook Air. It was a late 2008 model and we had never done this before on a Macbook Air. We were quite successful configuring BOOTCAMP and installing Windows 7 Home Premium on her MacBook, but we did break our heads a little. Here’s a big Tip you need an Apple External Super Drive to do it don’t ask me why but it was the only way we got Windows 7 to boot up and install. Here’s a link for rEFIt http://refit.sourceforge.net/ This lets you boot from a USB drive if you don’t have a super drive. Well Anyhow here is our video blog on the subject if you have an questions comments or concerns leave them below or email us at info@envigopc.com

3. Fake Alert Trojans

This year at our shop we have seen an alarming number of Fake alert Trojans appearing on our clients PC’s Some of you may ask what is a Fake Alert Trojan? A Fake alert Trojan comes in many flavors and is usually a virus disguised as an anti virus. Some of the common names include Security 2010, Anti-Virus 2011, Desktop Security 2010, and Security Tool 2010. These viruses pray on there victims by convincingly creating advertisements that look like a virus scan and when a user clicks to remove infected files the virus is now activated. A good way to avoid these nasties is to know your Anti-Virus through and through get used to your Anti-Viruses GUI the icons menu graphics etc. So you don’t get fooled into clicking these Rogue Anti-Viruses. Make sure everyone who uses your computer is familiar with these threats as well. Make them aware of your Anti-Virus as well.

God knows my lovely little ones love to click everything!

2. BooNana

I own a Mac I am immune to these Nasties!!!! Think again! I am too a proud own of a Macbook Pro. Our days of being immune to viruses seem to be coming to an end. As Apple products gain more popularity among consumers more Hackers, Programmers and Scammers are programming viruses designed specifically to attack Macintosh computers. One example of these is starting to appear more frequently among Macintosh computers BooNana. The virus spreads over social networking sites disguised as a video. Usually it traps is victim by a comment stating “Is this you in this Video?” When the user clicks on the link the Trojan is initiated as a java applet, which downloads further, infected files into your system. While running the Trojan horse hi-jacks user accounts spreading it self more among social networking sites. Deemed as the Facebook virus this one made it to number 2 this year. Be careful which videos you play don’t be fooled by spammers, what makes this scary is your friend maybe the one asking you “If your in this Video?” Keep an eye out!

1. iKee the iPhone Virus!

We had a client come in last month and ask us how much to remove viruses? We gladly told them our fees he agreed to our fees and pulled out his iPhone! Eddie, which was the Tech handling the client looked at him as if he were joking? There was a picture of 1980’s POP Singer Rick Astley. Which is popular among the internet as being “Ricked Rolled”

This virus hijacks your iPhone’s desktop and changes it to the picture of this pop star. While we havent had any reports on iPhone’s using ATT Service this seems to be a problem only with unlocked iPhones. Whats clear is if your iPhone is jail broken with SSH installed you must change your root user password to something different then the default “alpine”. Google OS Android as also been infected with similar viruses. Eddie modified pricing quite a bit for the client!! And backed up and restored his iPhone to normal functionality using iTunes! The draw back is the phone needs to be unlocked again. This takes the spot as our number one virus of the year not because of the amount of systems infected but because who would of thought our mobile devices would be prone to virus attacks 5 years ago!
